A Trip to Salam Park

Its another weekend in Riyadh, but it surely is an interesting one. Ayah had promised to bring us to a new park recommended by his colleagues and the exciting part is there’s a lake in the park! Yeaahh…one would think what is so exciting about it?? Its just a park with lake, we had a hundreds of them back in Malaysia…Tasik Titiwangsa, Tasik Perdana, Tasik Shah Alam which are all open to public 24hrs. But not here in The Kingdom and as expected, anything in Saudi that involved H2O maintenance will cost us a price.

We decided to go after Asr on that Friday, with Uncle Zul and Auntie Nini tagging along behind us. Credit to Google Technology which ayah had surfed the night before (that’s our smart daddy hehe..), we reached our destination after 20mnts driving. Uncle Zul had a glinch in finding parking space, it turn out that he had to make one round of u-turn and with all the impatience girls who just cant wait to get off from his car, whats more seeing that ayah and umi already waiting at the ticket booth, haha…We had to pay 3riyal each to get to explore inside the park, hoping that the fun waiting inside is worth the pay. The sight of a beautiful lake with magnificent fountain (surprisingly a stunning rainbow also) welcomed us that afternoon. The girls gasps seeing there’s even paddle boat ride to enjoy!! Hmm…looks like Salam Park will become their favorite now haha…Guess you should know our first activity there and then right? Ayah had to fork out 20riyal for the rides, and we are very lucky that Uncle Zul came along. At least they don’t have to cramp in one boat. With two adults as the captain with each two kids crew, they paddle to the centre of lake for 20mnts, while umi, ayman and auntie nini as their loyal camera women.

After the paddling activity, we strolled around the park and found that there’s actually a lot of choice for boat rides. There’s the Swan boat, Mickey Mouse Boat and a few more. Everybody agreed that enough paddling for today, and decided to enjoy the train ride instead. This time Uncle Zul generously chip in for our tickets, it cost SAR5/each. It was a fun ride, well at least ayman enjoy the sound of the train so much that he’s been so quite all along haha…Then we just spend the rest of the time lazing beside the playground. As soon as the call for Maghrib Prayer, we decided to heed back home, hoping that there will be another visit next time.
